Columbia County Deputies, along with High Springs Police Department responded to the scene and confirmed that two people had been shot and were deceased. The victims have been identified as Dennis Lamont Smith, 38, of Fort White, Florida and Erik Antonio Akins, 24, of Fort White, Florida. Witnesses say that soon after 1:00am on Saturday morning an altercation occurred in the parking lot of the bar. At this time it is unknown what the altercation was in reference to or who started the altercation. The two victims were shot and pronounced as deceased on scene. The shooter left the scene prior to law enforcements arrival.
Columbia teen pleads guilty in assault of cab driver
According to the charging documents, Woods, Perez-Rivera and Rousseau told police the attack was planned, and that the goal, according to Rousseau, was to rob the driver. Ofosusafori did not tell police that the attack was premeditated, according to the documents. Police said they received a call from a cab driver about 10:45 p.m. on March 1, stating that he had been assaulted after picking up four men on Sweet Fern in Columbia. According to the documents, the teens were headed to Sewell's Orchard Road for a party when one of the passengers told the driver to pull over.

Columbia University Saves $700,000 a Year Via Energy Efficiency
The university received $469,000 in incentives through Con Edisons Commercial & Industrial Energy Efficiency Program to offset part of the projects $2.25 million cost. The upgrade will reduce electricity usage at Columbias campus in Manhattans Morningside Heights neighborhood by 3.5 million kWh a year. Columbia Ultimate Announces Comprehensive Compliance Management System for ARM Industry
The Institute is not a school, and does not grant degrees, but has partnered with schools to create and in many cases manage educational programs. These educational programs include non-degree programs of adult and executive education, but they also include the following degree programs: Undergraduate major in Sustainable Development, PhD in Sustainable Development, MPA in Environmental Science and Policy, MPA in Development Practice, and MA in Climate and Society. The Institute includes about two dozen Panama research centers examining every aspect of sustainability. We have over 700 people on staff, including about 500 who work on our Lamont Campus, located on 150 scenic acres overlooking the Hudson River about 30 miles north of New York City. That campus includes the scientific heart of the Earth Institute, the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. It also includes the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI), the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) and the Agriculture and Food Security Center.
